Seven Venezuelan nationals and a man from Carapichaima have been arrested, after police found a firearm in the vehicle they were travelling in on Tuesday.

Police said they received a tip-off.

This led officers of the Inter agency Task force and Freeport police to stop a white AD wagon with eight occupants.

On searching the vehicle they found a firearm appearing to be a homemade shotgun.

The group of eight was arrested and taken into police custody, investigations are continuing.
