The killing of 43-year-old Nigel Belfon has pushed the murder toll up to 232.

The comparative toll for the same period last year was 253.

This represents an estimated eight percent decrease from the toll in 2018.

Belfon was found dead in the living room of a home along Thornhill Street, Gonzales.

He had been shot to his head and torso.

Police said at about 1.15a.m. yesterday, residents of the area heard gunshots and upon investigating, they found Belfon’s bullet riddled body.

Police have no motive for his killing.

Inquiries are ongoing.
