Tributes are still pouring in for Former President George Maxwell Richards who passed away earlier this week.

During today's sitting, Opposition Leader Kamla Persad-Bissessar reflected upon the times that she interacted with him including when he handed her instruments of appointment on becoming the first female Prime Minister of the country. She said he loved seeing women take on leadership roles because of his confidence in their ability and she believes he would have been happy to see the appointment of a female president. But apart from that, Persad-Bissessar notes that Max Richards was one who stood behind young people.

Speaker of the House Brigid Annisette-George is also joining hands with those paying their respects to the late statesman who she says, pushed for productivity, innovation, competitiveness and cooperation and gave sound advice to those he served with.

She says, condolences will be sent in writing to the wife and family of Professor Max Richards.
