I always suspected that turtles were being killed at Macqueripe Beach as I see them swimming by while snorkeling. I always see
spearfishermen there as well. Well today (Sunday 23-Sep-2011 @ 11.30 am) I have proof as I saw this
turtle shell laying at the bottom of the seafloor by the diving
platform. It looks fresh like it was killed the day before. You can
see the hole from the speargun in the shell. I took it to the
lifeguards and the CDA police. The fine for killing an endangered
animal in T&T is $1000 or 3 months imprisonment. This is too
lenient and there is no one to enforce it. This looks like the Green
Sea Turtle.
