Tim Bresnan was the pick of the bowlers with 3 for 68.

In reply, England were restricted to 254 for 6 and went under by 12 runs.

Michael Lumb smashed 106 on debut, while fellow opener Moeen Ali, also playing his first match, chipped in with 44.
