The West Indies have put themselves in a strong position against Zimbabwe after two days of action in the First test at the Kengsington Oval.

Resuming in a dicey situation on 18 for 2 the Caribbean side middle order did not stand up ,but there were half-centuries from inspirational skipper Darren Sammy and birthday boy Denesh Ramdin and the returning Marlon Samuels.

The Windies were bowled out for 307 Kyle Jarvis picked up a five-for 5 for 54. The West Indies with a lead of 96 runs.

In their second innings Zimbabwe closed on 41 for 3 and are still 55 runs behind with seven wickets in hand.

Advantage West indies going into day 3 tomorrow.
