The jostling to woo votes from the Independent bench in Parliament has begun, as the next phase of the Constitution Amendment saga gets set to unfold in the Upper House.


As confirmation comes that the government has delayed the Senate debate on the bill by an extra week, the Leader of Government Business is putting the Opposition on notice not to try to influence the Independent Senators. But he isn't shutting the door on a Government meeting with the Independents.
