PLAN TO CLOSE P.O.S PRISONPrisons Officers are up in arms about Government's plan to transfer inmates from Carrera Island prison, to the Maximum Security Prison in Arouca. They say, their morale is already low and they don't want to re-live the experience of being burdened with more prisoners without the infrastructure and security at the Arouca facility being improved. It was this afternoon that the Justice Minister announced that one of the Nation's oldest prisons is to be shut down by the end of this year, while they mull closing another. |
