Njisane seventh in Keirin

By Donstan Bonn

Trinidad and Tobago cyclist Njisane Phillip finished seventh in the men's Keirin at London 2012 after narrowly missing out on riding in the medal race..

Phillip had earlier copped fourth position in his second round heat, in what was a tight finish for two of the three available qualifying berths after Great Britain's Chris Hoy commandeered first place.

In the ride-off to determine positions 7-12, Phillip took command early and gamely repelled all challenges to claim seventh place.

The T&T rider also had a good showing in the match sprint event with a fourth place finish.
